It's been a really tough week, I could use some prayers.
I haven't yet recovered from the five fays that Dennis was gone. I'm pretty sleep deprived from sick kids.
I've
been so overloaded with Etsy orders and demands that I finally shut my
shop down for a while. A few days after this, I had a complaint from a
customer who was not happy with her order. I had forgotten to send an
extra chaplet as she wanted two and on top of it, she felt that the
rosary she ordered was pink when she wanted red. (It was not pink, but
that's not the point.) I tried hard to communicate with her and she
refused to respond to any of my emails. She only sent me one saying she
would give me negative feedback if I didn't get her package to her by
the 25th. So I stayed up late redoing her order and went early Saturday
morning to mailed her package priority mail so she would get it on time.
I even threw in an extra rosary in a different color in case she wasn't
happy with the red one I sent her. She still was not responding to my
emails so I just sent her both so she could pick which one she liked
best.
That day, she apologized for her rude behavior. I accepted her apology
and I thought it was over. The next day, I found that she left negative
feedback despite her promise to wait for her order. It was Sunday. It
seems she couldn't wait to tear me down.
I found this out right before I was going to go to bed. I was so mad I
couldn't sleep I had to take a couple glasses of wine to get myself
sleepy.. I finally fell asleep around 2 'o clock and then got woken up
by Lucy who told me that she threw up on her bedroom floor and that Anna
was standing in it. I was up from 4 'o clock on with Lucy as she
continued to throw up throughout the morning. Have I told you that I'm
already sleep deprived?
On top of this, she made up a bunch of lies and said it was such a
horrible experience working with me. She said she only wanted my
rosaries because they were cheap. How ironic that people have been
telling me that I should raise the prices.
On top of this, she reported my shop so now I could be suspended from using Etsy. I have never felt so angry in all my life.
One thing I'm proud of. I didn't back down and I defended myself
in my "case" that she brought against me. She couldn't argue with
everything that I did to make things right. However, she wouldn't back
down and remove the unfair feedback.
In the end, I initiated a "kiss and make up", which is a tool
that etsy uses between a buyer and seller over a dispute. Basically it
means that both the buyer and seller agree to remove negative feedback. I
emailed her and told her I would like to move on and not argue over
feedback anymore and so I gave her the positive feedback that she
wanted. There are more crisises going on in the world than just negative
feedback.
It wasn't easy, because she probably will not remove her unfair feedback
and this will make other potential buyers wary of trusting me with
their orders. Its' so weird that this woman is Catholic and yet this is
how she is acting.
I know I did the right thing. All day long I kept thinking about
Jesus and Mary and how they suffered from rudeness from others, and I
couldn't imagine them ever retaliating. I wanted to be like them and so
that's why I removed my negative feedback from her.
But now, on a different note, I just found out that our bathroom
that is supposed to be just tore out is also getting a renovation as
well. This means a week of hammering and banging and worse--no naps. I
cannot have the kids go a week with no naps. They are tyrants when they
are over-tired. So I have had my glasses of wine again because now I'm
mad that I didn't understand that a renovation was being done as well,
and therefore had no idea what I was agreeing to when I said yes. At
this rate, I'm going to become an alcoholic.
So these past couple weeks have been so stressful. I could use some prayers.
Becky, So sorry you had such a bad week! Good grief! You have prayers going up from here. :) I also want to say that I think you handled your difficult customer perfectly. You know yourself that you did everything possible to appease her. I used to work in retail and found that there were always one or two customers who were memorable for their rudeness and unfairness. The other 99% were great! Remember that even if she doesn't take down her negative feedback, people will see that the other 99% was all positive and that people really loved your product and how you worked with them. I know that I always read as many feedback comments on Etsy that I could when there was something I was interested in buying. I figured that there was most likely at least one person whose purchase didn't go perfectly for one reason or another and if almost all of the other feedback was positive, I took the negative comment with a grain of salt. There is always the chance that she will remove her feedback eventually. Maybe she is just slow about getting around to it. Hope the kids are all on the mend and that your bathroom renovation will go smoothly. I'm sure you will love it when it's all done. As for naps, you could always put the kids in the car at nap time and tell them you are going for a ride. Drive around and look at the scenery, play the radio softly and they may fall asleep in the car. We used to do this with the kids on occasion. Otherwise, an early bedtime might work. When my kids started to not nap at about 18 months, they would conk out at 5 pm and sleep solid until around 5 am. Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteOh Becky. This troubling time will pass. Read the comments above and concentrate on the positive feedback. You can't please the whole world. You are to be respected to sending her new products. Maybe she is also having her bathroom renovated and needs a nap herself. Maybe she got audited by the IRS or has hives or got yelled at by her boss. Maybe her dog ran away or she had too much to drink or not enough to drink or her favorite jeans don't fit anymore because she gained weight or she tried to color her hair and it turned out green or she has some kind of fungus infection on her toenails or she stepped on a lego in her bare fungal-y feet or she got a speeding ticket and the policeman laughed at her driver's license picture or she was trying on swimsuits, and it wasn't a pretty picture. Well, your family loves you, and many others think highly of you. And I'm sure God and the Blessed Mother looks upon you with favor.
