Done with the flu!

I am done, done, DONE with the flu.

I am done with the vomit and done with the sneezing, coughing, mucus.

Henry says he's done with the flu too.

I am done with feeling worried and sad for my kids, worrying about high fevers and "what is too high?"

Done with worrying about if I should bring them in and if we do, how high will the doctor bills be?

I would much rather be sick with the flu, rather than my kids. I know what that means--but the worry that goes with the flu is worse when it's worry for someone else.

No, Anna, you're not supposed to smile. Look sick.

Oh.

Yes, we're done with the flu.

But I don't think the flu is done with us.

Please keep Henry in your prayers---he's the sickest of all so far!

  1. Definitely praying! I'd say hugs, but I don't want the flu...

  2. I said prayers for Henry today while I was at home.
If only that snowflake napkin ring had magical healing powers.
Hope the throwing up has stopped. Icky, icky.

  3. Thank you both! Henry does seem to be much better--his fever has been gone for about 5 hours now. His cough is pretty bad--so bad that it makes him throw up sometimes. but his spirits have been much higher than before!

  4. Oh, no. Hope everyone is on the mend. Make sure everyone is drinking fluids as much as possible. What with fevers and throwing up you don't want them dehydrated. Pedialyte and Gatorade are good, but gingerale or sprite works too. But you probably already know that and are already doing that! :) Best of luck and get well soon!

    1. DeAnna, your godson was on the Pedialyte even before they started throwing up! :-) I asked him "what's that for?" and he said, "so they dont' get dehydrated." I was like, "They're not even throwing up!" And lo and behold, Henry starts throwing up that night.

Unfortunately, he will not take the Pedialyte; he hates it. So we're keeping an eye on the dehydration. I think the rule of thumb is no more than 2 dry diapers--any more than that, and you gotta bring them in.

  5. I meant to say I prayed for Henry at work, but I suppose it doesn't matter as long as prayers are being said.

Maybe the pedialyte made Henry throw up. I can't stand Gaterade. You know what's nice when you have a fever and don't feel like eating? Popsicles! Somewhere I heard that in a pinch you can mix in salt and sugar in a glass of water. Anyway, I'm sure you are doing whatever you need to be doing.

    Have a good evening.

  6. Thank you for the prayers Lena!

My mom said she would always put pepper on her tongue when she was sick with morning sickness. I'm sure pepper on your tongue would scare just about anything away.

  7. Or distract you from your misery. Whatever works, I say!
